Last Saturday myself & Steve, aka The Acoustic Cats played out 250th gig together. So I felt that now would be a great time to post a blog about The Acoustic Cats, our wedding gigs, bar gigs and working together every weekend.
Having already worked together with The Midnight Cats myself and Steve would talk frequently about how we would love to do acoustic music. It was something I had on my mental list of ‘things to do’. I love playing with The Midnight Cats but a lot of the time the ‘technical’ side of singing would get lost as it is all about keeping the dance floor full and punching out hit after hit. I felt that by doing a stripped back acoustic set I could be more adventurous with my vocals and play around with songs a bit more. An opportunity arrived with Ste and he was able to ditch his 9-5 and jump on board. My plan came together!!
Since our first gig 5 years ago The Acoustic Cats have gotten stronger and stronger. We are now being chased for gigs and sometimes struggle to fit everyone in. We also have a lovely little following in each of the places we play, it means so much when we start to see regular faces at each venue.

We absolutely love playing at Wedding Ceremonies and Drinks Receptions. For us being chosen to play a part in someones big day is an honour and not something we take lightly or for granted. We always want play our best music and create a chilled, awesome atmosphere. We can tailor make the day and the bride/groom can be as involved as they like with what songs we play. After all it’s about the bride and groom and not a chance for us to play our favourite songs!

Weddings are huge for us but recently another massive section of our gigs comes from micro breweries and ale houses. You can find us out and about most Sunday’s at one of these venues, not drinking unfortunately but performing!! There is always a great atmosphere and we have gained lots of other bookings from people who have seen us or recommended us. Another reason we love these venues are because they are mostly family owned and they put their heart and soul into making the place a success, we can really relate to that and appreciate how hard it must be so we always make sure we bring our A-game!

Really we play a great mix of venues which we are so grateful for. I say this all the time near the end of each gig but we love what we do, this is both of our full time jobs and we wouldn’t be able to do it without every single one of you out there who support live music! So if you are one of those people thank you ever so much, we get to do our dream job because of your continued support. If you’re not get out there and check out your local talent or maybe like our Facebook page and you can see where we are playing!!

Being able to go to work with one of your closest friends is something special. We know so much about one another, we are there for the highs and the lows and we can read one another like a book. Although I’m a bit of a give away as you only need to take one look at my face to know whether to avoid or not!! Each year is getting better and better, I wouldn’t change a thing and I can’t wait to see where we will be in another 250 gigs!
